- Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges Chief Executive Officer, The Hong Kong Jockey Club
Mr Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club shared how this third edition of the PBC Forum brought various thought leaders together and highlighted Hong Kong’s role as a vibrant hub in connecting the East and the West.
In his closing remarks, he echoed the insights from the forum speakers, “If we are to truly leverage the power of philanthropy, we need to build platforms and communities which are permanently connected. This is the reason for the Institute of Philanthropy – the IoP – which our Chairman announced yesterday, and which the Club is backing with HK$5 billion.” He added, “It will be a place to bring the best ideas and minds together. It will synthesise, commission and publish ground-breaking research. But it will also be hands-on, helping to build the capacity of professionals in the philanthropic and non-profit sectors. However we also see it as providing a much-needed Asian voice in the global debate on philanthropy.”
He announced that the fourth edition of PBC will be held in the last quarter of 2024. He then expressed his immense gratitude to all the speakers, moderators, and delegates for enriching the forum, the government of Hong Kong and all the partners for supporting the PBC Forum, as well as the HKJC team for their hard work.
