Rosemary Addis is a global leader and strategist in social innovation and investment. As Executive Director of Impact Strategist she works with business, governments, foundations and strategists globally to find solutions to complex social issues and develop new value creation opportunities. Ms Addis established and Chairs Impact Investing Australia and the Australian Advisory Board on Impact Investing. In 2015 she was recognised for her contributions to innovation as one of the AFR/Westpac 100 Women of Influence.

Ms Addis represents Australia on the Global Social Impact Investment Steering Group (previously the G8 Social Impact Investment Taskforce), is a member of the OECD Expert Group on Impact Investment and the NSW Government Social Investment Expert Advisory Group.

Ms Addis holds a Law Degree with First Class Honours, the New York Bar, is an internationally accredited broker of cross sector partnerships and an experienced Director. Prior to launching Impact Strategist, she was a partner of law firm Allens-Linklaters, recognised as one of the world’s leading lawyers (Chambers Global), established her first business offering shared value advisory in 2003 and held senior executive roles with the Smith Family and the Victorian Premier’s Department; established and led the Australian Government’s first social innovation unit. Ms Addis is published widely on social innovation and impact investment.

James Anderson oversees Bloomberg Philanthropies’ government innovation programmes, focused on building problem-solving capacity within local governments and spreading innovations that work. Current programmes include Cities of Service, CityLab, the India Smart Cities Challenge, Innovation Teams, the Mayors Challenges, and What Works Cities. He led the Foundation’s efforts to establish the nation’s first social impact bond in partnership with Goldman Sachs and the City of New York.

Before joining Bloomberg Philanthropies, Mr Anderson served as communications director to New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg. During that time, he was the chief architect of NYC Service, the City’s high impact citizen service strategy, and Cities of Service, a bipartisan coalition that now includes over 160 mayors representing more than 55 million Americans. Previously, he served as senior advisor to the commissioner of the City’s homeless services agency, and as communications director for the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, a national advocacy organization.

Dr Rhoda Au is Professor of Anatomy & Neurobiology, Neurology and Epidemiology at Boston University Schools of Medicine and Public Health and Senior Investigator/Director of Neuropsychology at the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) and the Alzheimer’s Disease Center global outreach and technical innovation leader. Her primary research focus is cognitive aging, with particular emphasis on identifying preclinical neuropsychological indices of risk for Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. She also has an MBA and is developing the Aging Well Institute, a transformative platform designed to catalyze groundbreaking discoveries for chronic disease prevention, inform policies for reducing economic costs and healthcare burden generally associated with advancing age, and identify determinants of sustaining lifelong physical, cognitive and mental health.

Naina Subberwal Batra is the CEO of Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). AVPN is a unique funders’ network committed to building a vibrant and high impact philanthropy and social investment community across Asia. AVPN’s mission is to catalyse the movement from traditional philanthropy to social investing for a more strategic, collaborative and outcome focused approach to addressing key social challenges facing Asia.

Ms Batra’s past experience of over 20 years includes being part of the senior leadership team at Monitor Inclusive Markets, a mission driven consulting unit of the Monitor Group that aimed at catalyzing market based solutions for social change. In addition she has worked in organizations such as KPMG and Citibank.

Ms Batra has a master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University where she graduated at the top of her class. She also holds a bachelor degree in Economics and International Relations from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts, USA and a General Course Diploma in Economics from The London School of Economics.

Driven by the belief that change begins with a single step, Richard Brubaker has spent the last 15 years in Asia working to engage, inspire and equip those around him to take their first step.

Currently, as the Managing Director of Collective Responsibility, Executive Volunteer of HandsOn China, and a Visiting Professor of Sustainability at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), Mr Brubaker is focused on building platforms that promote long term organizational capacity to address the economic, environmental and social hurdles that China faces as the country’s economic growth accelerates.

To date, Mr Brubaker has overseen the development and execution of more than 200 projects focused on solving the social, environmental and economic challenges that are faced in Asia.

Mr Brubaker is regularly invited to speak at leadership, social innovation and sustainability-focused conferences to speak on issues of social innovation & entrepreneurship, sustainability, corporate social responsibility and leadership.

Helen Cadbury became the chair of the Barrow Cadbury Trust in 2013. She initially joined the board as a trustee in 1998 and served until 2008. She served as chair of the Investment Management Committee and chair of the Inclusive Communities Programme Committee. After a three year sabbatical, to focus on post-graduate study, she rejoined in 2011. Her background is in the arts and social justice. She has worked as an actor, a teacher, and consultant on young people and the cultural sector. Ms Cadbury is a published author and poet.

Paul Carttar is an independent consultant as well as senior advisor to and co-founder of The Bridgespan Group. His work focuses on social innovation, enhancing the effectiveness of philanthropy, and scaling solutions that work.

Mr Carttar brings more than thirty years of experience across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors to his work. He recently served as the initial director of the Social Innovation Fund (SIF), a priority program of the Obama Administration that has mobilized nearly a half-billion public and private dollars to grow promising nonprofits with evidence of impact in low-income communities.

Prior to the SIF, Mr Carttar was an executive partner with New Profit, Inc., working with entrepreneurial nonprofits to expand their scale and impact. Previously, he was chief operating officer for the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, one of the nation’s most innovative private philanthropies, where he oversaw all program activities. Mr Carttar also spent several years with Bain & Company, the international corporate consulting firm, and held executive positions in two private, venture-capital funded companies in the healthcare industry.

Mr Carttar is a frequent writer and speaker on social innovation and other nonprofit issues, including delivering keynote addresses at conferences in Beijing, China; Mumbai, India; Kaliningrad, Russia; Dublin, Ireland; Singapore, and Seoul, South Korea. Mr Carttar graduated with highest distinction from the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Economics and English and received his M.B.A. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Bernard Chan is a deputy to the National People’s Congress of China and a non-official member of Hong Kong’s Executive Council (2004-09 and from 2012). He is also a former member of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council (1998-2008).

A graduate of Pomona College in California, he is the President of Asia Financial Holdings and Asia Insurance. He is Chairman of the Hong Kong – Thailand Business Council and an advisor to Bangkok Bank (China) Co. Ltd. He sits on the boards of several local and overseas companies in the financial services, utilities and manufacturing sectors. He also joined the governing board of the Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund in Hong Kong. Among his public service activities, he is Chairman of the Committee on Reduction of Salt and Sugar in Food, Chairman of the Steering Committee on Restored Landfill Revitalisation Funding Scheme, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings and Chairperson of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. From 2009-2015, he was Chairman of the Council for Sustainable Development and from 2009-2012, he was Chairman of the Antiquities Advisory Board.

Mr Chan was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2002, and a Commander (3rd Class) of the Most Noble Order of the Crown of Thailand in 2004. In 2006, he was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star by the Hong Kong SAR Government. In 2015, he received honorary degrees from Lingnan University and City University of Hong Kong.

He is married and has two children.

Jonathan Chang is the Executive Director of Lien Centre for Social Innovation and an Adjunct Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Singapore Management University (SMU), with interests in entrepreneurship, social policy, and government. He pioneered Ashoka Changemaker Campus accreditation for SMU, the first and only university in Asia to receive the honor. Mr Chang is the Harvard Kennedy School Ambassador to Singapore, and a member of HKS Alumni Board of Directors.

Prior to Singapore, Mr Chang founded and co-founded four startups across multiple industries in Silicon Valley and Manhattan. Most recent venture was founding OhMyGreen, a social enterprise, data-driven, organic and non-GMO food-focused wellness platform in California. As a Fellow at The Earth Institute of Columbia University, Mr Chang taught and conducted research on entrepreneurship as a tool for social change in Rwanda. His other research includes a case study on entrepreneurship in rural India for Stanford, a case study on a social enterprise in Bali for SMU, and a book on government and innovation with former Prime Minister of Finland.

Mr Chang earned his degrees from UC Berkeley, Stanford Graduate School of Business, and Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He received Stanford’s Miller Social Change Leadership Award, and was selected as the Harvard Law School’s Digital Problem Solving Initiative Fellow.

Annie Chen is dedicating her time and resources toward social and environmental causes with the potential for generating positive systemic change and sustainable development. Believing the potential for change through social entrepreneurship, Ms Chen is working to enhance the development of social entrepreneurship throughout Hong Kong and Asia. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Annie obtained her BA from Brown University and her JD from Columbia Law School.

Mr Cheung took up the political appointment of Secretary for Labour and Welfare on 1 July 2007. His portoflio covers labour, manpower, occupational safety and health, social welfare (covering social security and social welfare services), poverty alleviation and women matters.

Mr Cheung joined the Hong Kong Government in July 1972 after graduating from The University of Hong Kong.

He began his civil service career as an Information Officer with the Government Information Services (GIS). Whilst in GIS, he served for a period in the Hong Kong Government Office in London and was appointed Overseas Liaison Editor in 1978.

Mr Cheung transferred to the Administrative Service in September 1979 and had since held a wide spectrum of positions in policy-making and strategic management. Among his earlier postings were Assistant Private Secretary to the Governor of Hong Kong; District Officer (North); Administrative Assistant to the Financial Secretary, and Assistant Director-General of Trade.

As a senior directorate officer, Mr Cheung served as Deputy Judiciary Administrator; Deputy Head, Central Policy Unit; Deputy Secretary for Education and Manpower; Commissioner for Labour; Director of Education; and Permanent Secretary for Economic Development and Labour.

Mr Leong Cheung joined The Hong Kong Jockey Club as the Executive Director, Charities and Community in 2014.

Mr Cheung has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He joined Bain Capital in 2008 and was their Operating Partner. Prior to that, he was Managing Director of Global Sourcing & Supply Chain at Esquel Group, the founder and CEO of an education related Internet venture, CampusAll, in Mainland China, and a senior consultant at the Boston Consulting Group.

Mr Cheung has always been active in public services. He started working on charities and community related work while at Esquel. He helped the firm set up an education foundation in Xinjiang in 2002, building schools and libraries in the rural areas. He is currently Chairman of RunOurCity, an innovative social enterprise he co-founded with the aim of transforming life through running.

Cindy Chow is the Executive Director of the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund.  Cindy joined Alibaba Group in 2007 and has worked in the financial control and planning capacity, most recently as Senior Director of International Finance. Before joining Alibaba, Cindy has worked in a number of Hong Kong listed companies, specializing in financing and management reporting and planning.  Cindy holds a Master of Business Administration and is a certified public accountant.  Through directly investing in young companies and organizing various internship and training programs, Cindy aspires to achieve the mission of the Fund, to help Hong Kong entrepreneurs and young people realize their dreams for a vibrant world city.

Dr Anita Chung has been Chief Operating Officer of The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation since September 2015. She was formerly Curator of Chinese Art and Head of the Asian Art Department of the Cleveland Museum of Art. Dr Chung’s museum career began in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she held a joint position as Curator of Chinese Art at the National Museums of Scotland and lecturer at the University of Edinburgh. As an art historian and museum professional, she played a key role in organising international art exhibitions, establishing institutional partnership with art museums in China, producing scholarly publications and acquiring significant works for the renowned Cleveland collection. Dr Chung holds a PhD from the University of Hong Kong.

Phyllis Costanza was appointed CEO of the UBS Optimus Foundation in 2011. Optimus is UBS’s in-house Foundation dedicated to helping our clients fund impactful philanthropic programs that improve children’s lives globally.

Ms Costanza has been instrumental in reshaping the Foundation’s strategy and introducing innovative financing vehicles, like the first Development Impact Bond. Prior to UBS, she was a senior executive and Board Member of the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), a UK-based philanthropic organization, linked to the hedge fund TCI. She also has more than a decade of experience as a management consultant, and has worked in the public sector as the Manhattan Representative for New York State Governor Mario Cuomo, advising on policy and politics in Manhattan.

In addition to her role as CEO of the UBS Optimus Foundation, Ms Costanza is also a member of the Boards of both the Power of Nutrition and the Micronutrient Initiative. She holds a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Ashvin Dayal joined the Rockefeller Foundation in 2008. As Associate Vice President & Managing Director, Asia, he manages the Foundation’s regional office based in Bangkok. He leads a major initiative aimed at building the capacity of cities to cope with the effects of climate change (Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network) as well as the Foundation’s Smart Power for Rural Development initiative aimed at scaling up decentralized renewable energy solutions for off-grid rural communities. Mr Dayal also oversees the Foundation’s global goals of building greater resilience and advancing more inclusive economies.

Before joining the Foundation, Mr Dayal held various leadership roles over fifteen years with the British development organization Oxfam Great Britain. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the School of Oriental and African Studies at London University and a master’s degree from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. In addition to India, Thailand and the UK, he has lived in Israel and the United States.

Kriss Deiglmeier has more than 20 years of senior executive experience that spans business, social enterprise, nonprofit, academic and philanthropic sectors. She is recognized as a pioneer in the field of social innovation and has presented nationally and internationally on social innovation, social entrepreneurship, design thinking and public-private partnerships as well as guest-lectured at myriad universities around the world.

Before joining Tides, Ms Deiglmeier was the founding Executive Director for the Center for Social Innovation (CSI) at Stanford. She established CSI as a global leader in the emerging social innovation field. Ms Deiglmeier worked as an Advisor to the Stanford Institute for Innovation in Developing Economies while living in Myanmar in 2013.

Ms Deiglmeier has written and published leading thought pieces on social impact. Her most recent publication is a book chapter, “Social Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation: What’s New, and Why is it Important?” in The Real Problem Solvers.

Ms Deiglmeier received her BA from the University of Washington, and her MBA from UC Berkeley.

Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges has been Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club since February 2007. Internationally, he is Vice Chairman of the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA), the world’s highest thoroughbred racing authority, and Chairman of the Asian Racing Federation (ARF), which comprises over 20 member racing jurisdictions and promotes horseracing within Asia. Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges is also a member of the Advisory Board of Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V., organiser of the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen.

In April 2006 Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges was appointed to the Board of the Equestrian Events (Hong Kong) of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad Co Ltd, the company charged with managing the operations of the 2008 Olympic equestrian events in Hong Kong. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace (JP) in July 2009 and was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star in the 2016 Honours List. He is a Board Member of the Community Chest and a Council Member of the Hong Kong Management Association.

Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges joined the Club in 1998. Prior to joining the Club, Mr Engelbrecht-Bresges spent six years as CEO of the governing body of German horse racing and breeding, whose members include the representatives of racecourses, the Trainers and Jockeys Association and the German Breeders and Owners Association. A graduate from the University of Cologne in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Insurance and Business Administration, he has had a lifelong passion for horseracing and breeding thoroughbreds. He is also an avid football fan, and played football professionally in Germany before graduation.

Lisa Genasci is the CEO of ADM Capital Foundation (ADMCF) which she established ten years ago for the partners of Hong Kong-based investment manager, ADM Capital. The Foundation, with project partners in eight Asian countries, promotes innovative approaches to equity and environmental conservation in Asia. Over the past decade, ADMCF has overseen the allocation of US$ 20 million toward better air quality in Hong Kong, water security in China, sustainable consumption of seafood, the wildlife trade, forestry conservation/finance and a better quality of life for some of Asia’s most underprivileged children. She is also co-chair of the board of Hong Kong-based think tank, Civic Exchange, a director of Angkor Hospital for Children in Siem Reap, Cambodia and a director of China Dialogue. As a co-founder of Hong Kong’s Clean Air Network (CAN), she currently serves as an advisor to the CAN board, and she is an advisor to the Washington D.C.-based Ocean Foundation. Prior to ADMCF, she reported for the Associated Press in Brazil and New York, including three years as a financial journalist.

Helen Goulden is an Executive Director at Nesta and responsible for leading its Innovation Lab. The Lab’s mission is to support and scale innovation for the public good and works across a wide range of topics – everything from innovation in education to resistance to antibiotics. She previously worked in the private sector developing digital strategies and solutions for global corporate clients. She spent five years in the UK Government developing national and local innovation programmes as well as leading product development for public sector interactive television services.

Kate Guedj joined the Foundation as Director of Philanthropic Services in 2000. In 2005 she was made Vice President for Philanthropic and Donor Services, in 2013, her role was expanded to Vice President for Development and Donor Services and, in 2015, it was expanded again to Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer. In this capacity, she oversees the Foundation’s development efforts and works with the Foundation’s donors to help them achieve their charitable and philanthropic goals. In addition, she provides management oversight to The Philanthropic Initiative.
Before coming to the Foundation, Ms Guedj was a senior executive with the Massachusetts Bar Association, overseeing their programs and services. She has also served as Director of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation, and its grantmaking program providing legal services to the poor. She began her career at the Council on Foundations in Washington D.C. as a researcher, and eventually became Membership Director.
Ms Guedj is on the governing boards of the Bruce J. Anderson Foundation, the Deshpande Foundation, Zoo New England, and AFP Massachusetts. She holds a B.A. with honors in the division of the humanities from Swarthmore College.

Gaurav Gupta is Dalberg’s Regional Director for Asia, and is currently establishing Dalberg’s office in Hong Kong. He also leads the firm’s energy access practice. Mr Gupta has been a founding partner in a string of social ventures including two eco-resorts, a sustainable tourism online platform, an organic tea plantation, and an eco-friendly fair trade fashion label. He founded a leading Indian environmental NGO on climate change and also helped establish a leading public policy think-tank on Australian aboriginal issues. Prior to Dalberg, Mr Gupta was a project leader at Boston Consulting Group in Sydney and London. He holds an undergraduate degree in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University and a postgraduate degree in development economics from Yale University.

Cecilia Ho is the President of Lee Hysan Foundation and a member of the Hong Kong Private Wealth Management Association’s Accreditation and Exemption Committee. Ms Ho is the former Executive Director of Goldman Sachs (Asia) LLC and former Managing Director and Team Head of Citi Private Bank prior to joining Lee Hysan Foundation. She has over 30 years of banking experience in various senior management positions including: Asian Business Development Head at Citi Canada; Business Manager for International Personal Banking Business at Citigroup, managing Asia, North America, Europe, Middle East and Africa region; Head of Sales & Services at Standard Chartered Bank covering eight countries. Ms Ho earned her BBA with honors from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, and was presented the HALL OF HONOR AWARD in 2010 by the University of Hawaii College of Business. She attended the Stanford Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Dr Ashish K. Jha, M.D., M.P.H. is Director for the Harvard Global Health Institute, K.T. Li Professor of Health Policy at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and a practicing Internal Medicine physician at the VA Boston Healthcare System.

Dr Jha received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and trained in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco where he also served as Chief Medical Resident. He completed his General Medicine fellowship from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School and received his M.P.H. from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Dr Jha’s major research interests lie in improving the quality and costs of healthcare with a specific focus on the impact of policy efforts. His work has focused on a broad set of issues including transparency and public reporting of provider performance, financial incentives, health information technology, and leadership, and the roles they play in fixing healthcare delivery systems.

As Director of HGHI, Dr Jha leads research and global convening efforts on critical global health issues, including Pandemics and Health Security, Climate Change and Global Health, and Global Health Quality.

Yana Kakar is the Global Managing Partner of Dalberg, a strategy and policy advisory firm with a social impact mission. In her role as Managing Partner, Ms Kakar stewards the firm’s work globally and oversees activities across Dalberg’s 15 offices worldwide. In her client work, Ms Kakar advises leaders across the public, philanthropic, and private sectors on charitable giving, inclusive business strategies, economic development, and investment in emerging and frontier markets. Ms Kakar has led teams across Africa, South Asia, and Latin America, including post-conflict and post-disaster countries such as Haiti and Afghanistan. Her perspectives have been published in a number of media outlets including the Financial Times, Devex, Bloomberg, Huffington Post, and The Guardian.

Ms Kakar is a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). She serves as an Advisor to the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) and is a member of the Frontier Markets Council for the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA). Yana also serves on the Boards of Convergence, Speak Up Africa and Agora Fund.

Prior to joining Dalberg, Ms Kakar was with the Boston Consulting Group, VISA International, Women’s World Banking, and Arthur D. Little. She holds a BA from McGill University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth Knup is the head of the Ford Foundation’s China office, overseeing all grantmaking in the country from their office in Beijing. Over her distinguished career, she has worked to develop stronger ties between China and the rest of the world in the education, not-for-profit and business sectors. Before joining the Ford Foundation in 2013, Elizabeth served as Chief Representative of Pearson PLC, one of the world’s foremost education and publishing companies. She has lived in China continuously since 1998 and has served on a number of not-for-profit boards, including the Capacity Building and Assessment Center and the Global Environment Institute. She is currently a member of the Board of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations and the Institute for Sustainable Communities. Ms Knup earned a BA in political science from Middlebury College. She also holds an MA in Chinese studies from the University of Michigan.

Mingwai Lau is the Chairman of Chinese Estates Holdings Limited. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, an independent policy think tank.

Mr Lau holds LLB, LLM, and PhD degrees from King’s College London and the London School of Economics, University of London. His PhD dissertation was published as a book by Oxford University Press in 2011. He was a Visiting Lecturer at Harvard Law School in 2014 and has been re-appointed for the 2015-2016 academic year. He is also a registered attorney in the State of New York and a CFA Charterholder.

Mr Lau is active in public affairs both in Hong Kong and the mainland China. In Hong Kong, he is the Chairman of Commission on Youth, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Ocean Park Corporation, Council Member of City University of Hong Kong, a non-official member of Commission on Poverty, a non-official member of Commission on Strategic Development, and a member of Financial Infrastructure Sub-Committee of the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee. In China, he is currently a member of the Sichuan Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, an Honorary Trustee of Peking University and a Board Member of University of International Business and Economics.

En Lee is Partner and Head of Asia Pacific at LGT Impact Ventures, a global impact investor targeting both attractive financial returns and measurable, positive social and/or environmental impact. He leads the Asia team and manages the regional investment portfolio in agriculture, education, healthcare, energy and ICT. Pioneering impact investing in Asia, he is active in various investor, leadership and business networks. He is a Social-Entrepreneur-In-Residence at INSEAD and serves on the Boards of several award-winning social enterprises. Dr Donald Li is the Chairman of the Bauhinia Foundation Research Centre, an independent policy think tank. Besides being in active practice as a family doctor, Dr Li dedicates much of his professional time to academic, teaching and community work. He is also active member of many Hong Kong governmental and public health bodies. Dr Li is the Chairman of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council and the Honorary Secretary of St John’s Ambulance Council. He is an Honorary Steward of the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He is a member of the Chinese Association of Hong Kong & Macao Studies and a Vice President of the Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation.

Medically, Dr Li is the President of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, and also the Chairman of the governing committee of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Disaster Preparedness and Response Institute of the Academy (HKJC DPRI). Dr Li is the Honorary Treasurer and member-at-large of the World Organization of Family Doctors (WONCA) World Executive Council and Censor of the Hong Kong College of Family Physicians.

Laurence Lien is the Co-Founder and CEO of the Asia Philanthropy Circle, a new non-profit initiative that convenes Asian philanthropists to learn, collaborate and catalyse new social interventions. He is also the Chairman of Lien Foundation and the Community Foundation of Singapore and Board Member of the Lien Centre for Social Innovation at the Singapore Management University; CEO of the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre in Singapore from 2008-2014; Founder of the Community Foundation of Singapore; and previously served in the Singapore Government. He holds degrees from Oxford University, the National University of Singapore, and Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Awarded the Eisenhower Fellowship in 2010.

Professor Terry Lum is Henry G Leong Professor in Social Work and Social Administration; Head and Professor of the Department of Social Work and Social Administration at The University of Hong Kong. He is also an elected Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. Before joining The University of Hong Kong, he was an Associate Professor at the School of Social Work at the University of Minnesota. Professor Lum is an expert in long term care and in ageing policy. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and his Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Hong Kong. He earned his Ph.D. degree in social work from the Washington University in St. Louis, with special focus on gerontological social work and policy research. Before joining the academia, Prof. Lum worked as a social worker in both Hong Kong and the United States.

Pony Ma, one of the Core Founders, Executive Director, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Tencent. Mr Ma oversees the strategic development, overall direction and management of the Group. Before he founded Tencent in 1998, Mr Ma was in charge of research and development for Internet paging system development at China Motion Telecom Development Limited, a telecommunications services and products provider in China. He has over 20 years of experience in telecommunication and Internet industries. Mr Ma received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Shenzhen University in 1993.

Beyond its core businesses, Tencent is committed to creating a better society. Established in 2007, The Tencent Foundation, has generated approximately RMB1 billion to date from Chinese Internet users and RMB1.7 billion from Tencent and its employees. The funds directly support medical, educational, and environmental causes in China, as well as science and innovation projects.

One major initiative is September “9.9 Charity Day”, which brought together hundreds of charitable organizations, well-known brands and celebrities to encourage Internet users to make charitable donations via Tencent’s social network platforms and payment services. In 2015, the event generated RMB127.9 million across 2,178 charitable projects for poverty relief, health services and animal conservation

Ronie Mak joined RS Group in December 2014. She is an investment banker by training with over 15 years of experience in banking. Previously she spent 8 years in HSBC serving in various departments including the CEO office, strategy and business management as well as in-house mergers and acquisitions team for the region. During this period, she acted as the Secretary of the Hong Kong Association of Banks in 2012, and other previous roles included KPMG Corporate Finance, United Parcel Services Mergers and Acquisitions as well as HSBC Corporate Finance.

At RS Group, Ms Mak oversees and manage the strategy, operations and development of RS Group’s family office activities in HK and globally.

Ms Mak was born in Hong Kong and graduated from the University of New South Wales in Sydney with merit and a double degree in finance and marketing, Bachelor of Commerce.

Alexandre Mars is a serial entrepreneur and philanthropist. Over the past 15 years, he launched and sold several companies in Europe and the United States in the business and technology sectors. His last two startups, Phonevalley (a mobile marketing agency) and ScrOOn (a social media management system), were sold to Publicis Groupe and Blackberry.

Mr Mars is passionate about fighting inequalities. In 2014, he founded Epic Foundation to bridge the gap between a new generation of individual and corporate donors and organizations supporting children and youth globally. Epic is developing new tools focused on enhancing how donors select, monitor and experience their impact. He is regularly quoted by the Financial Times, Le Monde and Bloomberg. He has been invited to share his mobile/digital and philanthropic vision at a variety of events. He is an active member of the Global Philanthropists Circle at Synergos, Young Presidents’ Organization and Nexus.

A longstanding member of the technology community, Mr Mars continues to invest in high-growth technology companies through his family office Blisce/, including Spotify, Pinterest and Blablacar.

S. Alice Mong is Executive Director of Asia Society Hong Kong Center (ASHK). Prior to joining ASHK, Ms Mong worked for almost a decade in New York, where as Director of the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA). She was responsible for transforming MOCA from a New York Chinatown institution to a leading national museum.

Prior to MOCA, Ms Mong headed up “The Committee of 100”, a non-profit membership organization founded by world-class architect I.M. Pei and renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Under Ms Mong’s leadership at the Committee of 100, the organization increased its presence in Greater China and significantly expanded its influence on U.S.-China relations and advanced the full participation of Chinese Americans in all areas of life.

As Executive Director of ASHK, Ms Mong has overseen Asia Society Hong Kong Center’s presentation of No Country: Contemporary Art for South and Southeast Asia, the inaugural exhibition in Asia of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative.

Toshi Nakamura co-founded Kopernik in 2010 to connect simple, life-changing technology with people in the last mile. The idea was driven by insights from his extensive career in international development, management consulting and academics. Mr Nakamura dealt with governance reform, peace building processes and post-disaster reconstruction during his ten years with the United Nations (UN) in Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Sierra Leone, the United States and Switzerland. He initiated Sierra Leone’s Open Government Initiative to increase the accountability of government leadership, and consequently made transparency a priority while building Kopernik.

Prior to joining the UN, Mr Nakamura was a management consultant for McKinsey and Company in Tokyo. He holds an LLB from Kyoto University and MSc Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and is a Guest Associate Professor at Osaka School of International Public Policy, Osaka University. Mr Nakamura was selected as a World Economic Forum (WEF) Young Global Leader in 2012, and is a member of the WEF Global Agenda Council on Sustainable Development 2014-2016. He also sits on Kopernik’s board of directors. A proud father, Toshi’s young daughter with Kopernik co-founder Ewa Wojkowska already speaks Indonesian, Japanese, English and Polish.

Dr Alexander Ng leads a team that works to build health partnerships with key stakeholders in China, including the Chinese government, the private sector and global health actors. Their aim is to identify, develop and deliver high-quality, low-cost health products for use in developing countries, in order to tackle endemic diseases and other urgent health needs. Dr Ng’s team also works with local partners to design and deliver programs that address domestic health challenges such as TB and primary care.

Dr Ng joined the foundation in 2015 after 9 years at McKinsey & Co., where he was an Associate Partner. From 2011 to 2015, Dr Ng co-led McKinsey’s Healthcare System & Services Practice and Corporate Finance Practice in China, where he served public, private and social sector clients on strategy, health system reform, operations transformation and investments.

Dr Ng completed his undergraduate and medical studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a postgraduate diploma in Health Informatics at the University of Otago, New Zealand. From 2004 to 2005 he served as Chief Resident at Auckland’s Middlemore Hospital, before beginning an MPH in Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health.

Since 2010, Dr Ng has served as Honorary Assistant Professor of the School of Public Health at the University of Hong Kong and he has also been a Council Member of Hong Kong Council of Smoking and Health since 2012.

Francis Ngai is the Founder and CEO of Social Ventures Hong Kong (www.sv-hk.org), the first non-profit venture philanthropy organization dedicated to support and nurture social innovation in Hong Kong since 2007. Portfolio social start-ups include Diamond Cab, Green Monday, LightBe affordable housing, RunOurCity, CookConnect and Playtao Education etc.

Prior to this, Mr Ngai was Head of Strategy in a listed technology conglomerate. He is now also a column writer, a public speaker, advocate of Business 2.0 movement and board member of Asia Venture Philanthropy Network.

Mr Ngai was selected as one of the 100 Asia Pioneers by The Purpose Economy in 2014, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum in 2012 and one of Hong Kong’s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2011.

Jeremy Nicholls is the Chief Executive of Social Value UK and Social Value International. These are membership networks for those interested in measuring, managing and accounting for their social value, united by a common vision of changing the way the world accounts for value.

Cherie Nursalim earlier worked as a research associate at the Harvard Business School. She published an award-winning book on an American-Chinese Architect, and was among the co-authors of a book ‘Indonesia Matters’ published by the World Economic Forum.

She serves on the International and Asia Advisory Boards for Columbia University and MIT Sloan School of Management respectively. Chairman of the United Nations Global Initiative SDSN-SEA, she also serves on the University of Indonesia Research Center for Climate Change and The Science Center Singapore boards. She is founding trustee of China Disabled Persons Foundation Board, China’s largest foundation, and is among the founding members of the Institute of Philanthropy Tsinghua University, the Global Philanthropic Circle with Synergos Institute in New York, and co-founded United in Diversity foundation. Cherie Nursalim is a recipient of Baiyulan Award from the Shanghai government and won Ministry of National Development award from Singapore government. She initiated initiatives for HIV AIDS awareness in Indonesia for GT organization which won awards from UNAIDS, International Labor Organization and the Indonesian government. A new Orchid species of Dendrodium was named after her as founding board of ‘Gardens by the Bay’ Singapore. Ms Nursalim serves on the Executive Board of International Chamber of Commerce, ICC Research Foundation Board and newly launched ICC Academy.

She received her Bachelor in Engineering Science and Economics from Oxford University, her Master’s in Business Administration from Columbia Business School and is World Economic Forum Young Global Leader alumni at Harvard Kennedy School.

Jianmei, previously known as the Associate Senior Editor of China Youth Magazine, Vice-president of China Philanthropy Times, and is currently the Director of China Charity and Donation Information Center.

In addition to her 15 years’ experience in media, she also had 10 years’ experience in philanthropy policy advocacy, charity donation research and capacity building and development of charity organisations.

She mainly focuses on social innovation, Corporate Social Responsibility, NGO accountability and China Cities Charity Index. China Charity Alliance is committed to act as a platform to mobilise all social forces to take part in philanthropy, to help the charities both at home and abroad to stay informed, to promote NGO’s transparency and accountability, and to advance the development of China’s philanthropic sector.

Watanan Petersik has been in the finance industry in Asia for over 30 years; her last position as a banker was Managing Director Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. Currently, Ms Petersik is a board director of CIMB Thai Bank and PTT Global Chemical in Thailand as well as CIMB Group Holdings in Malaysia.

Ms Petersik is a Senior Moderator for the Aspen Institute, active with the Aspen Global Leadership Network in South Africa and the U.S. She is also a member of the Ashoka Fellowship Support Network in Asia and a Director of the Lien Center for Social Innovation at Singapore Management University. She also serves on the Emerging Markets Standards Advisory Council for B Lab.

Michael Porter is an economist, researcher, author, advisor, speaker and teacher. At Harvard Business School, he brought economic theory and strategy concepts to bear on many of the most challenging problems facing corporations, economies and societies, including market competition and company strategy, economic development, the environment, and health care. He has received numerous awards for his research and he is the most cited scholar today in economics and business. Initial training in aerospace engineering at Princeton University. He then earned an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a Ph.D. in Business Economics from Harvard’s Department of Economics. Harvard Business School and Harvard University jointly established the Institute for Strategy & Competitiveness to provide a home for his research.

Louise Pulford is the Director of Social Innovation Exchange (SIX). Ms Pulford has been responsible for growing the network over the last 6 years, and worked on the SIX projects since its inception in 2008, and through its incubation at the Young Foundation. She also manages the European consortium of 11 organizations across Europe, which runs the flagship European Commission project -Social Innovation Community, a European network for social innovation. Ms Pulford is a seasoned speaker on social innovation globally, she sits on the Mayor of Seoul’s Advisory group for social innovation, and regularly runs social innovation training programmes for universities around the world.

Prior to running SIX, Ms Pulford worked on a variety of projects at the Young Foundation, including coordinating its international work and the development of the UpRising leadership programme –a UK based leadership programme encouraging young people to be more involved in public life and decision making. Prior to that, Ms Pulford worked at a small social issues consultancy firm in Beijing. She has an MSc in East Asian Studies.

Rip Rapson is president and CEO of The Kresge Foundation, a $3.5 billion private, national foundation dedicated to expanding opportunities for vulnerable people in America’s cities. Since 2006, he has expanded Kresge’s grantmaking and investing tools to improve the economic, social, cultural and environmental conditions of urban life across the nation and in Kresge’s hometown of Detroit. In 2015, the foundation made grant and investment commitments totaling more than $145 million.

A veteran of public policy and philanthropic leadership, Mr Rapson’s experience includes civic administration, private law practice and strategic foundation governance. His work has elevated many public issues including early childhood development, urban revitalization, environmental preservation and arts and cultural support. He is active in his profession and in his community serving as the Board Chair for ArtPlace America and Living Cities, and as a board member on Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), Detroit RiverFront Conservancy, Downtown Detroit Partnership, M-1 Rail, and Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago’s Detroit Branch.

Robert Rosen is the director of Philanthropic Partnerships. In this role, he leads a team that oversees the foundation’s relationship with philanthropists and charitable organizations across the globe. Previously, Mr Rosen served as director of the foundation’s Executive Office and in various roles in Communications.

Before joining the foundation in 2007, Mr Rosen served as Senior Director of the Corporate Finance Practice of the Corporate Executive Board, the international business strategy and research firm. Previously he served as Political Director for Senator Edward M. Kennedy, and in the White House as Assistant to the President and Director of Advance for President Clinton.

Mr Rosen received a Juris Doctorate from Cornell Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont.

Kim Salkeld is the Head of Efficiency Unit, HKSAR Government and Secretary-General of the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. The Fund has been established under the Commission on Poverty with the aim of building an ecosystem of support for innovations in business and services that help to address poverty and disadvantage in the community.

Mr Salkeld has been a civil servant in Hong Kong since 1980. He has lived in the UK, Singapore and the US and has a degree in ancient and medieval history.

Polar explorer and world record-breaking long-distance skier Ben Saunders is a man making history. Best known for leading one of the most ambitious polar expeditions in a century, he was the first to successfully complete the epic, 105-day, 1,800-mile trek on foot to retrace Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated, early 20th-century journey to the South Pole – equivalent to running 69 marathons back-to-back.

Mr Saunders has five North Pole expeditions under his belt and has accomplished some of the world’s most impressive polar expeditions. He is the youngest person to ski solo to the North Pole and holds the record for the longest solo Arctic journey by a Briton.

A speaker at the 2005, 2012, and 2014 TED conferences, Mr Saunders was featured in the 2016 New York Times best-seller TED Talks: The Official Guide to Public Speaking, which was published by TED chief Chris Anderson. In the book, he is described by Chris as a “powerful storyteller” with a penchant for surprising audiences.

Jaff Shen is a social investor with tri-sector experience in state-owned enterprise, investment company, and non-profit organizations. In 2002, Mr Shen founded Fuping Development Institute (FDI) and Fuping Social Investment Co., Ltd. to nurture social innovation and promote equal development opportunity in China. During the past decade, Mr Shen manages five award-winning social ventures in vocational training, early childhood education, microfinance and eco-agriculture for low income groups, as well as introduced SVP, a venture philanthropy model to China. Mr Shen is now keen to support the new generation of citizen philanthropists, solution journalists, and researchers, to catalyse social innovation and build the market for positive changes. These ventures and initiatives are currently operating under Leping Social Entrepreneur Foundation as the umbrella organization. In 2012, Fuping Vocational Training School was awarded China Impactful Organization in Urbanization by China International Urbanization Development Strategy Research Committee. In 2014, Mr Shen was named “2014 Chinese Young Leaders” by Southern People Weekly.

Mr Shen holds a B.A. in Oriental Studies and a law degree from Peking University.

Bradford K. Smith is president of Foundation Center, the leading source of information about philanthropy worldwide. Angelica (Angie) Tang is a senior advisor of Asia Value Advisors (AVA) providing strategic advice on business development in philanthropic consulting and tactical direction on marketing and communications. For over 20 years, she has contributed commentary on U.S. politics and policy toward Asia and has served as guest lecturer at educational institutions such as the Dalton School, Columbia School of Journalism and the United States Military Academy in West Point. She was a columnist at The Diplomat, the premier current affairs magazine in the Asia Pacific region from 2015 to 2016.

From 2009 to 2014, Ms Tang served as Executive Director of the Committee of 100, a Chinese American leadership organization dedicated to advancing US-China relations. Prior to her executive leadership position in the non-profit sector, Ms Tang was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as a regional executive of the U.S. Department of Labor. Before joining the federal government, Ms Tang was a cabinet official in the administration of Mayor Rudy Giuliani in New York City. She began her career in public affairs as a staffer to New York City Council President Andrew Stein. She was elected Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and served on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations, including the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, designated a National Historic Site. Currently a Trustee of Berkeley College, she is a recipient of leadership awards including the 2013 Above & Beyond Chairperson Award from New York’s City & State magazine and luxury watchmaker Breguet’s recognition for Philanthropy Advancement in 2015. Ms Tang is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Princeton University, and Columbia Business School.

Malini Thadani started her career as a civil servant of the Indian Revenue Service. She held a wide range of positions in the Finance, Defense and Textile Ministries.

Ms Thadani was Head of Communications, Public Policy and Corporate Sustainability with HSBC India until 2012, when she moved to Hong Kong.

He has written a dozen books, some of them were published in English and Japanese, including the “Emerging Civil Society in China, 1978-2007”, which was published by Brill Press in Boston, and the “NPOs in China”, which was published by the First Press in Tokyo in 2002. All of his books were
focus on NGOs in China and its works among the social reform in China.

Dr Zhenyao Wang, Ph.D., is President of the China Global Philanthropy Institute and Dean of the Beijing Normal University China Philanthropy Research Institute. He holds a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University and a doctorate from Peking University.

In November 2015, Dr Wang was appointed the first president of the China Global Philanthropy Institute (CGPI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting innovative, high-impact philanthropy through education and training. Founded by prominent Chinese and American philanthropists, Bill Gates, Ray Dalio, NiuGensheng, He Qiaonv, and Ye Qingjun, CGPI is dedicated to advancing philanthropy in China by improving the professional standards of philanthropic education, strengthening international dialogue and cooperation, and promoting innovative reforms in global philanthropy.

Dr Wang also helms the Beijing Normal University China Philanthropy Research Institute (CPRI), which he helped found in 2010. Under Dr Wang’s leadership, CPRI has become a leading philanthropy think-tank, which drives national discourse on China’s social services and charitable sector. In addition to its research, CPRI also provides professional philanthropy consulting services and has completed a number of influential projects related to charity law and policy reform, child welfare, and senior citizen service systems reform.

Dr Wang previously worked for over 22 years at China’s Ministry of Civil Affairs (MOCA) where he was instrumental in launching several renowned national policies including direct village elections and the country’s urban/rural minimum welfare social safety net system. Following the devastating Wenchuan earthquake, he established the National Natural Disaster Response System, a four-tiered mechanism for coordinated emergency response. While at MOCA, Dr Wang also focused on expanding social security benefits to the country’s most vulnerable, reforming the national welfare system to provide allowances and greater support to groups such as orphans and senior citizens.

Jonathan Woetzel is the Asia-based Director of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey’s business and economics research arm, and the no. 1 ranked private thinktank globally. Mr Woetzel established McKinsey & Company’s China office in the 1980s and currently leads McKinsey’s Cities Special Initiative. He is co-chair of the non-profit think tank, the Urban China Initiative—a collaborative project of Columbia University, Tsinghua University, and McKinsey—that aims to develop and implement solutions to China’s urbanization challenges. He participates in a number of international forums and lectures at the Guanghua School of Business and the China-Europe International Business School. Published widely in both Chinese and international publications, Mr Woetzel has written five books on China.

Solicitor, educator and social innovator. Founder of The Good Lab, a co-working community and innovation consultancy for social innovation and entrepreneurship development in Hong Kong. Founder of the Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture (HKICC) and the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity as a senior secondary school dedicated to education innovation. Founder of the Make A Difference (MaD) initiative, a platform to groom the next generation of creative leaders and innovative change-makers in Asia. Elected member of the Urban Council and Wan Chai District Council between 1995 and 2008 with the last four years as Chairperson of the Wan Chai District Council. Ms Wong received her BA (Hons) from Pomona College, California, USA and M Ed from the University of Hong Kong. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Lingnan University and The Education University of Hong Kong.

Bryan Wong is responsible for strategic planning of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. He is also a director of Social Ventures Hong Kong, a social enterprise investment fund and incubator.
Previously, he was the CEO of Lark Group, a holding company with operation in cinemas, restaurants and consumer products businesses.  He has also held various operation and business planning positions at Hong Kong Disneyland, and was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Mr Wong holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, also MSSc and BBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Yongguang Xu is the Chairman of the Narada Foundation, the Vice President of the China Charity Alliance, State Department counselor researcher and the Honorary Chairman of the Chinese Charity Federation. He was a member of the Ninth and Tenth National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Mr Xu founded the China Youth Development Foundation after he resigned from head of the Organization Department under the Central Committee of the China Communist Youth League in 1988. The Project Hope founded by him has been developed and recognized as the most influential philanthropic brand in China. In 2007, he co-founded the Narada Foundation with a mission to foster civil society and promote the development and social innovation of the philanthropy sector.

Mr Xu is a renowned thinker and practitioner in the field of civil society organisation operation and research with over 27 years of experience and tremendous contribution to the civil society sector. He is the Chief Editor of two renowned books on that area: “China’s Third Sector Study Series” and “Inquiry of the world—Project Hope in Xu Yongguang’s eyes”. In recent years, he has been endeavored to push for structural reform of China’s philanthropy sector and shape a modern philanthropic culture. He initiated and co-founded the China Foundation Center which has made significant progress in promoting transparency and credibility of foundations in China.

Nicholas W Yang is Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the fourth-term Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The Innovation and Technology Bureau is responsible for policy matters on information technology, as well as innovation and technology.

Mr Yang worked as a senior design engineer for Intel Corporation in 1978 and subsequently as a strategic management consultant for Bain & Company. Returning to Hong Kong in 1983, he joined Shell Electric Mfg. (Holdings) Limited as its Executive Director and Deputy Group Managing Director. He was senior consultant and director of several venture capital and private equity investment firms in 2002. Mr Yang was later appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited in 2003 and was an Executive Vice President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University from 2010 to February 2015. In March 2015, he was appointed as Advisor on Innovation and Technology to the Chief Executive of the HKSAR, and a Non-official Member of the Executive Council which is the Chief Executive’s top advising body.

Mr Yang graduated in 1977 from the California Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Applied Mathematics. He pursued further studies in Stanford University and obtained a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1978 and a Master of Business Administration degree in 1982.

Peter Yates is Deputy Chairman of The Myer Family Investments and a Director of AIA Australia. He is Chairman of the Royal Institution of Australia, the Australian Science Media Centre, the Faculty of Business and Economics at Melbourne University, The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, the Shared Value Project, Deputy Chairman of Asialink, Director of the Royal Children’s Hospital, the Centre of Excellence for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology at UNSW, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the NHMRC Centre for Personalised Immunology at ANU.

In 2004 Mr Yates co-founded and served until 2007 as CEO of Oceania Capital Partners, one of Australia’s largest listed PE funds. From 2001 he was Managing Director of Publishing and Broadcasting Limited where he was responsible for repositioning PBL from traditional media into a new media and gaming enterprise. Until 2001 he was Executive Director at Macquarie Bank. He holds a Doctorate from Murdoch University, a Masters from Stanford University and a Commerce degree from Melbourne. He speaks Japanese, having studied at Keio University.

Mr Yates has also been a director of Crown, Foxtel, The Nine Network, Ninemsn, ticketek, Veda, the National Portrait Gallery, The Melbourne International Arts Festival, Centre for Independent Studies, MOKO.mobi and the Australia-Japan Foundation.
